Even when I try to follow the instructions, my garments are often brighter or quirkier or more idiosyncratic than most other handmade knits. Most of the things I knit are unique; I get bored doing the same thing over and over again – although if you like a particular item but want it in another colour, I’m happy to create a new version: similar but not identical.
